In 2007, Anchor Homes began offering custom homes to the community of Cumberland, MD and beyond. Our team has over 30 years of commercial and residential construction and engineering design experience and has worked with national architectural and engineering firms. Over the years, Anchor Homes has established a system of value-engineered plans that are customizable to each client’s wants and needs. This series is considered more affordable yet is still backed by the same professional services, high level of workmanship and craftsmanship as our fully customized homes.
Since 2009, Steve Langan, our owner, has been a LEED accredited professional, making him an expert when it comes to sustainable engineering and construction, ensuring that each and every project is energy efficient, cost-effective and leaves our client satisfied.
Strategically located in Cumberland, MD, we are able to service the building needs of prospective homeowners in Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and beyond.
We offer turnkey homebuilding services, from start to finish. We give our clients full creative license on their future homes. We execute our comprehensive, detail-driven services through computer aided design, 3D renderings and computer-generated estimates that lead to precision and quality for each and every home we build. This allows changes to be made on paper ahead of time rather than as a costly change order mid-construction.
Anchor Homes is dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable customized homes that have clients feeling at home, from design to finish.
Steve wears many hats in the Anchor Homes organization, but one will usually find him sitting at his desk with 2 large computer screens in front of him, tweaking a client’s home plan. Steve is a life-long resident of the tri-county area and resides in Ridgeley, WV with his daughter Erin. His son, Ryan, who began his construction management career after college with Anchor Homes, now lives and works in Pittsburgh, PA with a construction contracts firm.
In 2004, Steve and his late wife, Debi, opened their own company, Langan General Contracting Corp., a commercial & industrial general contracting firm serving MD and WV. In 2007, they began Anchor Homes, serving MD, WV & PA.
Steve is a 1983 graduate of West Virginia University with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and was a member of the Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering National Honor Society.
Steve became a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional in 2010 when he realized that he wanted to incorporate the organization’s values on “green building” into the homes he was designing. Since then, he has been involved in several commercial and residential projects that have required LEED certification.
He has also been working on gaining his MIRM (Masters in Residential Marketing) certification through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) for the past several years.
He presently serves as Past President of the Home Builders Association of Western MD and is the HBAWMD National representative with the NAHB. He also serves on the Design Review Committee of the Lakewood Subdivision, Ridgeley, WV.
As our Secretary-Treasurer and Business Manager, Debi handled the day-to-day operations of the Anchor Homes office. She also assisted clients with interior selections for their homes.
She was a lifelong resident of the tri-county area and resided Ridgeley, WV with her husband, Steve, and daughter, Erin. Her step-son Ryan, lives and works in Pittsburgh, PA. Debi graduated from Frostburg State University in 1987 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration/Finance.
Debi was actively involved in her community, whether it be volunteering her time with several organizations or attending social events. She began her involvement in the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, when she joined the Chamber’s 2007 Leadership Allegany! class and has continued her affiliation with that program by serving on the Steering Committee and Alumni Committee. Debi presently serves as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Chamber.
She also served on the Wepco Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and the Supervisory Committee. Her prior affiliation with the Cumberland Business & Professional Women, which is now disbanded, lead her and her former BPW members to form a local volunteer group, L.A.C.E. (Ladies Achieving Community Excellence), to assist other local volunteer organizations to meet their fundraising goals. She was a member of the Homebuilders Association of Western MD, the National Association of Home Builders, and the Historic Highlands Association of Realtors.
She was also involved with the Western MD division of the March of Dimes since 2007 and held numerous responsibilities including a Board Director and Events Chairperson for numerous years with responsibility for the March of Dimes Ladies’ Night Out and Signature Chefs events. In the past, she served as President of the Lakewood Property Owners’ Association. Debi also volunteered for 22 years as a licensed cosmetician for the Look Good Feel Better program, a national cancer group through the WMHS. When time permitted, she volunteered at Bishop Walsh School, where Erin is a student.
