About Anchor Homes
In 2007, Anchor Homes began offering custom home builds to the community of Cumberland, MD and beyond. Our team has over 30 years of commercial and residential construction and engineering design experience and has worked with national architectural and engineering firms. Over the years, Anchor Homes has established a system of value-engineered plans that are customizable to each client’s wants and needs. This series is considered more affordable yet is still backed by the same professional services, high level of workmanship, and craftsmanship as our fully customized homes.
We primarily build stick-built homes but also have extensive experience as a modular home builder and as a commercial contractor. No other home builder in our region can boast this kind of construction, design and engineering experience that we personalize and bring directly to your project. Unlike most builders only seeking financial reward, we started building homes for the fun and personal satisfaction we experience each time we turn over keys to their new home.
Who We Are
Since 2009, Steve Langan, our owner, has been a LEED accredited professional, making him an expert when it comes to sustainable engineering and construction, ensuring that each and every project is energy efficient, cost-effective and leaves our client satisfied.
Strategically located in Cumberland, MD, we are able to service the building needs of prospective homeowners in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and beyond.
We offer turnkey home-building services from start to finish. We give our clients full creative license on their future homes. We execute our comprehensive, detail-driven services through computer-aided design, 3D renderings, and computer-generated estimates leading to precision and quality for each home we build.

Meet The Team
Steve Langan
President/Designer/Project Manager
Steve wears many hats in the Anchor Homes organization, but one will usually find him sitting at his desk with 2 large computer screens in front of him, tweaking a client’s home plan. Steve is a life-long resident of the tri-county area and resides in Ridgeley, WV, with his daughter Erin. His son, Ryan, who began his construction management career after college with Anchor Homes, now lives and works in Pittsburgh, PA, with a construction contracting firm.
In 2004, Steve and his late wife, Debi, opened their own company, Langan General Contracting Corp., a commercial & industrial general contracting firm serving MD and WV. In 2007, they began Anchor Homes, serving MD, WV & PA.
Steve is a 1983 graduate of West Virginia University with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and was a member of the Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering National Honor Society.
Steve became a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional in 2010 when he realized he wanted to incorporate the organization’s values on “green building” into the homes he was designing. Since then, he has been involved in several commercial and residential projects that have required LEED certification.
He has also been working on gaining his MIRM (Masters in Residential Marketing) certification through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) for the past several years.
He is an active member of the Home Builders Association of Western MD and is a long standing member of the NAHB.
Randy Wampler

Randy began his construction career in 1988 after completing the four-year apprenticeship program for the local 1024 Carpenters Union. After several years as a journeyman carpenter, his career moved into Construction estimating and project management for a local, self-performing, general contractor. For the following three decades Randy continued to advance his career, knowledge, and experience working with National/International design firms, National builders, Developers, and Design/Builders. His knowledge spans all aspects of the construction process from permitting, design, estimating, quality control, and project management. “
